Technology Disadvantages

While it is impossible to argue with the many benefits that have been derived from modern technology, there are also disadvantages that are inherent with the latest computer and phone advancement. A person that plans on using the latest devices will need to remain aware of how it will affect their life, in both the good and bad ways. The biggest problem that many technology experts are voicing is the dependence that is now being placed on using these devices and how it can give a distinct change to a person’s life.

In terms of health, there have been numerous studies that look at how the growing use of computers can affect a person. The condition of carpal tunnel syndrome is one physical issue that can be developed from using a computer for long hours at a time, but there are other psychological issues as well. Many people now spend a great deal of time online, living through the images and text that are presented by their computer screen. Instead of connecting in real life situations, they prefer to live in a virtual world, complete with real friends that only exist in online social networks and through Internet games.

The biggest change that is being seen is that the quality of communication is quickly being transformed. While people are more connected to their friends than ever before, there is a great deal of static that colors all of their conversations. With many people updating their social network status several times a day and sending chain emails, the quality of the information being transmitted is being reduced. The glut of information that is crowding these online channels must be filtered drastically if a person wants to only receive important transmissions from their business colleagues and personal friends. The time that it takes to filter this information only adds to the long hours that are spent in front of a computer.
